Sunrise 101

What is Sunrise 101?

We periodically offer our SUNRISE 101 Class for those who seek to gain a fresh perspective on Sunrise’s mission, vision, and strategic plan as they grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

This class is especially designed to be an in-depth look at how Sunrise started and where we are heading to as a church.

We hope that all participants in this class will embrace our shared direction.  Some of our topics include important matters such as: the core values that shape our mission and vision, our strategic plan to help every person grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, the essential beliefs of our church, as well as life together as a family here at Sunrise Baptist Church.

What does “Gospel-Centered Presence” mean?

You may hear these words spoken often around Sunrise Baptist Church, but what does it mean? A “Gospel-Centered Presence” is a presence centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We desire to be a “Gospel Centered Presence” in Whatcom County, wherever we go, with whomever we live, in whatever sphere of influence God gives us. In 1 Thessalonians 1:8 Paul tells them, “For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.”

The people of Thessaloniki had become well known as people who were devoted to God and cared deeply for one-another and other believers around the world. This is our desire as well.

Gospel-Centered people live with the reality of the Gospel—Jesus Christ, crucified for the forgiveness of our sins—at the center of their lives.

One of the greatest ways we can have an impact as a gospel centered person is by being authentic and genuine in our love and care for people.  People can smell a fake from a mile away.  But the person who genuinely cares about their needs, is really interested in their kids, wants to truly listen to their story, really longs for them to know Jesus, is absolutely willing to enter into their life circumstances, will not come up short in having an impact in their lives.
